FAQ

  • Can I preview the registration form?

Absolutely! You can access a preview of the Show Registration Form for the Matilda Awards here. This enables artists and producers to pre-plan which information and collateral they have to prepare in order to register a show on time.

  • What is the maximum number of complimentary tickets I just reserve for the judging panel?

There are 12 judges on the Matilda Awards panel, so a maximum of 12 tickets are required to be reserved. However, if you would like to offer judges the option to bring a guest, this is a welcomed offer.

  • How many judges need to attend my production in order to be eligible?

For performances based within a 100km radius of Brisbane City, a minimum of 4 judges are required to attend your production. For performances outside this radius, a minimum number of 2 judges are required.

  • If Matilda Judges are unable to attend my production, can I submit an archival recording and still be considered?

If yourself and the Lead Judge have exhausted all options for the judging panel to view the performance live, the Matilda Awards will consider accepting archival recordings on a case by case basis. This particularly relates to regional productions where tyranny of distance is an obvious consideration.

  • Does my production have to have a 'minimum of three performances' in a single venue?

No! Your production must have a minimum of three performances in its season, however these performances can take place across multiple venues.

  • I have questions about my shows/artists eligibility, who should I talk to about this?

If you cannot find an answer to your question amongst our FAQ page, or in our Eligibility & Categories page, please email us at info@matildaawards.com.au and we will put you in touch with the Lead Judge.

  • How do I become an executive committee member or judge?

Email your interest to info@matildaawards.com.au being sure to include any relevant credentials, experience and what you think you could bring to the organisation. We’ll be in touch if we have an available posting!

  • Do the Matilda Awards promote QLD productions on their social media?

No. To keep things fair, the Matilda Awards will not promote any QLD performance or artist outside it’s business of promoting the Awards themselves.

  • Are the Matilda's judging panel able to see live performances in regional Queensland?

The Matilda’s judging panel is made up entirely of volunteers, who are very passionate about what they do, however may not have the capacity to travel regionally to see a production. However, there are certainly things producers can do to make this process easier.

    1. Register your production well ahead of the six-week minimum, the earlier the better.

    2. Apply for funding to cover judges travel expenses.

    3. Coordinate with other regional theatre companies so judges may see multiple shows in one trip.

    4. Offer matinee/weekend performances to allow for extended travel time
