Transition for Executive Leadership at Matilda Awards Inc.
The Matilda Awards Inc. Executive Committee announces the departure of three key office bearers, each of whom has played an important role in shaping the organisation’s growth and success.
After five years of dedicated service, Jan Irvine, Chair of Matilda Awards Inc., has stepped down from her role. Under her leadership, the organisation has deepened its commitment to creating a high-quality Awards event that promotes excellence for Queensland’s theatre industry on a national stage.
Sue Rider is also stepping down, retiring from her role as Lead Judge after serving with extraordinary dedication and vision. Her leadership, at the helm of the Judging Panel, strengthened the integrity and transparency of the judging process, elevating the Matilda Awards’ standing through a robust and artistically informed approach. Due to personal commitments, she is unable to continue in the role, and we deeply respect her decision at this time.
Outgoing Chair, Jan Irvine said: “Sue Rider has played a vital role in shaping a fair, transparent and rigorous judging process. Her contributions are deeply valued by the entire Matilda Awards community, and we thank her sincerely for her commitment to integrity and impartial evaluation.”
The Executive Committee has greatly benefited from the dedicated services of their Secretary, Anna Loren who has resigned after serving the organisation with distinction. Anna Loren has been a steady and reliable presence in her role as Secretary. She resigned to take up an exciting position as Co-Chair of the Entertainment Diversity Committee for the Media Arts and Entertainment Alliance (MEAA).
“Anna’s behind-the-scenes contribution is deeply valued. Her calm efficiency and professionalism have kept the wheels turning for the organisation. It’s been a pleasure working alongside her”, Jan Irvine said.
The Executive Committee extends its sincere gratitude to each of these exceptional individuals for their commitment and dedication to expanding recognition of the Matilda Awards within Australia’s theatre industry. Their legacy will be felt for years to come, and they leave the organisation well-positioned for continued success. Announcements regarding the appointment of the new Chair, Lead Judge, and Secretary will be made in the coming weeks.
