The Matilda Awards are a not-for-profit organisation that honour and celebrate the achievements of the Queensland theatre Industry.

The Matilda Awards are seeking applications from people within the Queensland arts sector to join the Matilda Awards Judging Panel for the 2019 calendar year, commencing immediately.

About the Role

This is a voluntary role with significant responsibility. The criteria for this position include:

  • Long term professional involvement with theatre

  • Prepared and able to meet the attendance requirements of regular panel meetings (up to 10 meetings annually)

  • Prepared and able to attend 50+ performances throughout the year

  • Be prepared to assess all performances objectively

  • To be able to work collaboratively within the organisational structure

  • Demonstrate a commitment to advancing Queensland theatre

The executive committee is prepared to consider motivated individuals from all corners of the sector. Minor conflicts of interest (ie. judges who are also practitioners) are dealt with throughout the judging process and should not deter someone wishing to join the panel.

Applications are now open, and will close on Friday 19th April.

Decisions will be advised within a week, with new judges commencing their duties immediately.
